Description
Student Counseling Services (SCS) at the University of Minnesota is searching for an Assisant Director. This
is a full time, 12 month position, reporting to the Director. The position works closely with the Director to
provide strategic leadership and oversight for the clinical services offered by SCS to the campus community.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
• BA/BS degree and eight years of experience, or an advanced degree and six years of experience, or
a terminal degree and two years of experience. Licensed Psychologist (LP) licensure is required.
• License eligible in Minnesota
• Previous administrative experience in a counseling or clinical setting
• Previous experience working from a brief model of service delivery
• Skilled in working within a highly diverse, multicultural, and LGBTQIA affirmative environment
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Experiences in clinical policies and procedures development and implementation
• Experiences in crisis intervention, clinical consultation, and hospitalization
• Experiences in program coordination or administrative supervision
• Experience working as a part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced work setting
• Experience providing supervision to predoctoral interns and/or advanced clinical trainees
• Ability to maintain a leadership position while also managing a caseload and providing direct
client care
• Exceptional communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
• Doctoral degree in counseling or clinical psychology, or social work
• Five years of experience providing counseling services
• Two years of experience providing counseling services in a college or university setting
• Licensed Psychologist credential
• Completed APA-accredited predoctoral internship
• Previous administrative experience in a college/university counseling center
• Five years of experience providing counseling services in a college or university setting
• Experience and training in a professional area of expertise relevant to college and university
counseling center work, or be willing to develop a relevant area of expertise
• Flexible/comfortable adapting to new and evolving clinical practices
• Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and skills in group counseling, including process groups
