General Summary: To provide business services, which incorporate sound financial management practices, in a fair and efficient manner to serve the needs of the students, parents, staff, and residents of the school district.
Essential Job Functions:
Plans, develops, and oversees the budget process which includes developing overall budget strategy and long-range planning, obtaining a broad-range of input, prioritizing needs, allocating resources among priorities.
Analyzes a variety of financial information (e.g. budget variances, cost projections, operational and capital outlay needs, etc.) for the purpose of providing direction and support, making recommendations, maximizing use of funds, and ensuring overall operations are within budget.
Keeps the Superintendent and Board of Education informed of the financial condition of the school district. Requires that the accounting procedures comply with the requirements of the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and state statutes.
Manages the development, design, implementation, and communication of benefit plans (health, dental, vision, life, STD, LTD insurance including fully insured vs. self funded plans.)
Oversees all district revenue, cash flow, bank reconciliations, and investment of funds in accordance with Board policy and state statutes. Manages fixed assets.
Assists in recurring and non-recurring referendums, bond issuance and debt management.
Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Master's Degree with strong emphasis on school business administration.
Has or qualifies for valid Wisconsin certification as a school business administrator.
A minimum of three to five years of experience as a business administrator in an education setting or related field.
Possesses an understanding and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), DPI financial requirements, including Wisconsin Uniform Financial Accounting Requirements (WUFAR) coding, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, banking and audit requirements.
Strong computer skills and experience with financial software such as Skyward Financial, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Workspace.
Ability to initiate, prioritize, and implement responsibilities without direction.
Ability to work effectively, collaboratively, and positively with administrators, staff, parents, students, and the public.
